Federal Business, LLC is a business advisory and media company. We are driven to improve the business of government by providing all of its participants key insights that will enable them to wade through this market’s unique complexities.
- Advisory. Our clients are provided insight and intelligence into the workings of Federal agencies that will lead to improving their effectiveness in pursuit of government opportunities. Our counselling covers the spectrum from developing strategies on business development and strategic communications to implementing tactics that lead to tangible outcomes.
- Media. Our media division is initially focused on Veterans Affairs (VA), the largest civilian agency in the Federal government. Our website, the “Business of VA” (www.businessofva.com) and its associated blog is called FederalEyes, provide unique insight that only come from former IT and communications executives of VA. Our goal is to provide all parties involved with government’s business with insight that will improve the efficiency of the procurement process.

James Gfrerer

Commercial and Public Sector Executive with large scale IT and Cybersecurity experience, focused on delivering outcomes for Health, Financial Services and other lines of business.
Prior to being a founding partner in Federal Business, LLC, Mr. Gfrerer was Assistant Secretary and Chief Information Officer at US Department of Veterans Affairs (VA). In this role, he led the largest single centralized IT portfolio in the Federal Government of 8,000 IT professionals plus an additional 8,000 full-time contractors. While at VA, he implemented a Digital Transformation strategy of the nearly $6B portfolio which modernized the massive VA Enterprise.
Mr. Gfrerer’s background also includes being Executive Director at Ernst & Young and Senior Advisor at the Department of State for cyber and intelligence activities.
Bill James

Bill James has an extensive executive government and corporate track record in Information Technology (IT). His government experience covers leadership roles in Veterans Affairs (VA), US Air Force, National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency. In the private sector, Mr. James managed large federal organizations delivering enterprise solutions to Federal IT agencies.
At VA, Mr. James served as the Office of Information and Technology (OIT) Deputy Assistant Secretary of Development and Operations (DevOps). In this role, he managed the one of OIT’s largest organizations, and a $3.3B budget that delivered mission-critical enterprise-wide IT products and services to end users at 2,300 facilities.

Our Tysons location is between the Dulles Technology Corridor and the Nation’s capital – Washington DC. We are located within walking distance of the Spring Hill Metrorail Station with convenient access to the Washington Beltway, other businesses, restaurants and shopping.
